The concept for this exhibit is to take visitors on a journey across Australia, where water is gold. The exhibit is themed as a Farm in the Outback. Visitors start their adventure a building representing typical farm. Here, one can find the belongings, furniture and photos of the people who live on the farm. Through intertactive, interpretive graphics, visitors learn about how precious water is in this dry, unforgiving environment.
Once visitors exit the farm, they proceed to an authentic Outback walk-about where free range red kangaroos and wallabies roam through a desert landscape.
Visitors will have access to the farm porch where they will have indoor views of the red kangaroo and wallabies, as well the kookaburras. The farmer has enclosed part of the outdoor porch with mesh and it houses many parakeets. Other exhibits include the emu and a fascinating reptile species; perentie, which is displayed in both indoor and outdoor habitats. As visitors complete the journey, a themed gift shop can be visited that includes products for Australia. The shop is yet another place to communicate messages about Australia animal diversity and conservation.
