In the native Uitoto language, Surama means tapir, one of the most important animals in the Uitoto’s Amazon Basin home. This is a new park located at the edge of the Amazon Basin in the south of Colombia, who’s main goal is to inspire visitors to learn about and appreciate and preserve the Amazon rainforest’s flora and fauna. The new park focuses exclusively on rainforest and river animals, including pirarucu, arowana, mata mata turtles, jaguar, tapir, howler and spider monkeys, toucan, macaw, black caiman anaconda and many more. This Park will be the first in the world designed exclusively
around the idea of interpreting the four layers of a rainforest, and the myriad
of interactions and symbiotic relationships that make the ecosystem sustainable.
