Jaziquima, in the Huitoto language means “Men of the Forest.” This new project features six new habitats for new world primates including spider monkey, squirrel monkey, woolly monkey and capuchin monkey, among others. The exhibit is intricately themed as a remote village deep in the rainforest. The design includes a large selection of tropical plants through which wooden platforms and huts are connected by elevated walkways allowing the visitor to climb into the upper reaches of the lush canopy and be surrounded by these fascinating primates. Superb viewing of the animals is afforded from village huts equipped with floor to ceiling glass. Six species of primates will inhabit six netted habitats, which will include a combination of native, live trees and themed concrete limb for the animals to climb and enjoy.
